Brands are exposed to different type of threats depending on the service- or product type and the market. Some brands have high traffic to their websites or web services and are therefore exposed automatically to trademark infringements through so-called typosquatting, i.e. registrations of conscious misspellings of the brand name. Other brands are affected by piracy where registrations and use of the brand supports the illegal trade. Some brands operate within the financial or other high security business areas and are exposed to outright fraud. There is often a need to monitor a brand globally and in various digital platforms in order to discover how resellers and competitors are using the company’s brand, but also to ensure that nobody is establishing a brand online with similar wording.
